Houston’s Kentucky Derby Day at Hughes Manor

Derby Day

At the beginning of the month, I was given the pleasure to attend/cover the 143rd Kentucky Derby most exclusive Derby Party in Houston.  Thanks to Hughes Manor and Modern Luxury Houston Magazine. This was a marvelous event and Hughes Manor provided the perfect location with their indoor/outdoor venue. They had TVs all around and an outdoor projector screen, a live Horse in winner’s circle attire to take pictures with, live paintings, and lawn games like corn-hole tossing. Not only was there a Dj during the event but also a live performance from the Bluegrass Band. With everyone dressed in derby attire there was a Bowtie contest for the men and a Hat contest for the women.  Throughout the night we were provided delicious gourmet bites from Custom Culinary like tangy barbecue meatballs, lemon grilled chicken skewers, sweet chocolate brownies and truffle cheesecake. For drinks we were treated to an open bar. I had the classic signature derby cocktail “Mint Julep”, along with sweet wines and champagne. There was a Luxury Raffle with great prizes and Faux Betting with all proceeds going to the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. Lastly was the big race; soon as the gates open and the Horses took off the place went into total chaos. There were people clinching their teeth, biting their nails, seating on the edge of their seats, standing, jumping up and down all shouting and cheering for their favorite Horse and Jockey. I truly see why it’s called the most exciting two minutes in sports. Overall this was an awesome experience. Thanks to Abbey, Jillian and Jess for giving me this great opportunity. I have provided pictures down below along with a link to Hughes Manor and Modern Luxury Houston Magazine. Thanks for reading and be sure to comment, subscribe and share if you like.
